One of the traditional Chinese New Year activities is to pray the sky god for celebrate the arrival of new lunar year with all the good wishes after 12:00am.
Another activities to set off firecrackers at midnight. The firecrakers story is to scare away the teribble Nian (Monster). It's illegal in our country so that now adays people mostly buy those firecrackers decoration to decorate their house.
